Vivarium

The Vivarium Zoo in the south hessian city of Darmstadt is is the home of 700 animals. The zoo has over 150 species in a space of about 4 hectares. The zoo got its name from the Vivarium, an aquarium and terrarium which houses not only fish and turtles but also amphibians, reptiles and molluscs. The main attraction is the ape house with its rare Celebes crested macaques and the tropical house, opened in 2005, with its binturongs (bearcats) and dwarf fish otters.
