The city of Darmstadt has spent around 18 million Euros renovating its Jugendstil swimming pool with its countless precious Jugendstil ornaments. The grand re- opening is planned for autumn 2007. The mayor of Darmstadt, Walter Hoffmann declared during the founding ceremony that this architectural jewel is an important part of “the collective treasures of Darmstadt”. The women's bath has been thoroughly renovated, at the same time retaining its original dimensions. A new annex houses several saunas and therapeutic treatments. The spa and leisure pool complex covers an area of over 9 thousand square metres and comprises 12 different pools, from a thermal pool, sulphur pool and a thalasso pool to a normal 25 metres swimming pool.
